@dragonblogger – Making Random words into Poetry

Monday, June 8th, 2009

I found @dragonblogger while skipping around the twitterverse.  Every day he accepts random words from twitter followers and magically transforms them (all) into a poem.   Obviously the poem is bigger than 140 characters…

Check out the resulting poetry on his website at http://www.wandererthoughts.com/

If you want to participate, send a word to @dragonblogger.

This is a unique way of blending poetry and twitter.   It earns a Twitter Laureate salute!

@cassandrabeth – making poetry on twitter

Monday, June 8th, 2009

In my twitter wanderings today I stumbled across @cassandrabeth.  Her twitter stream is comingled with thoughts and poetry – lots of short forms such as Haiku.  Her most recent is here:

Near lavender phlox/an oriole alighting:/the day’s turning point

I also liked this one…

Sudden sun; raindrops glisten on the cheeks of leaves.

Great tweets of beauty coming from Montreal!

Join the fun.  Write your own poetry!

@DonnaMMiller Self Proclaimed Twitter Laureate

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Part of the new charter for Twitter Laureate is to highlight people who are using twitter for poetic ends.  To kick off this new initiative, I found @DonnaMMiller.  I found her searching for poets online.

That’s it. I’m tired of Maya Angelou getting all the credit for being wise. From now on, DonnaMMiller is the Twitter poet laureate.

@donnammiller

She follows up this tweet with a couple tongue-in-cheek tweets playing up on the wisdom she envies.  Overall not a to of poetry, but certainly a great way to start off Twitter Laureate 2.0 with a bang.
If you know someone who uses twitter for poetry, let us know with a comment here or a dm to @twitlaureate and we’ll feature them here so we can all enjoy the read.
