Community Couplets: The final result – Determination of Inspiation

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

This time we collaborated to compose a poem of couplets.

  • If you were a poetry critic, what would you say about it?
  • Other than your own, which is your favorite couplet?

Determination of Inspiration” (courtesy of @pandadollbaby)

Plurkid_normalmaniactive:
Where do you search for inspiration?
The depths of despair, or the heights of elation?

Haunted_cropped_normalPandadollbaby:
The truth lies in our quest.
The effort exerted must be our best.

Green_6213_newprofilesm_normalCharityHisle:
It’s not the time to idle in wait;
start today, we make our own fate

Dragonlogo_normaldragonblogger:
Body sluggish and inert,
thoughts conflict and invert

Green_3406_eyeg_normalChristwitery:
Soft words blow, unspoken in my heart
incensed by broken promises, on my part

Dcs_twitter_green_normaldenthewise:
I was the one who left you there
Jilted, alone, it wasn’t fair

Plurkid_normalmaniactive:
So much for finding inspiration in elation
Joyous recollections don’t seem part of the equation!

Dcs_twitter_green_normaldenthewise:
Turning about I face ahead
the future vibrant, the past is dead

Haunted_cropped_normalPandadollbaby:
Renew THE commitment, play by MY rules.
The truth is the key, THE proof we’re NOT fools.

@DonnaMMiller Self Proclaimed Twitter Laureate

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Part of the new charter for Twitter Laureate is to highlight people who are using twitter for poetic ends.  To kick off this new initiative, I found @DonnaMMiller.  I found her searching for poets online.

That’s it. I’m tired of Maya Angelou getting all the credit for being wise. From now on, DonnaMMiller is the Twitter poet laureate.

@donnammiller

She follows up this tweet with a couple tongue-in-cheek tweets playing up on the wisdom she envies.  Overall not a to of poetry, but certainly a great way to start off Twitter Laureate 2.0 with a bang.
If you know someone who uses twitter for poetry, let us know with a comment here or a dm to @twitlaureate and we’ll feature them here so we can all enjoy the read.
